Coping with Kidney Failure for Pediatrics
Hi there!
My name is Benjy and I’m 22 years old this year. I had kidney failure since I was born but was only diagnosed when I was 14 years old. I started dialysis when I was 15, but thankfully I had a transplant in 2002 and now I hope that I can share my experiences with you help you lead a happy fulfilling life, even with kidney failure. Everyone’s experiences are unique and I would not say that I would be able to relate to all of your experiences but I am definitely most willing to help in any way that I can.
It is not easy to live with a chronic illness, and sometimes we get really depressed and sad because it seems the whole world is against us, but it’s ok. Everyone feels like that from time to time. I find it helpful to think positively, to think about how well you have done and how brave you actually are. By coming this far, by being able to wake up each day and face each day, you are already someone who is brave and remarkable.
More importantly, how you are able to MAKE A DIFFERENCE to people’s lives next time, better than any normal person, because you will find it easier to say that you know what should be truly important in people’s lives.
