Are you a Victim, Survivor or Overcomer?

An excerpt and slight modifications done to a post I made to a mailing list for kidney patients. YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THIS. It might change your life.

Hi all, I'm sorry for posting a link on my previous message. I guess I have not been following up on the latest rules! Anyway, before I begin, big thanks to those who have contributed to the stories! Got something to share or discuss or rant with you all today.

Someone once told me that everyone has problems and everyone is either a victim or a survivor or an overcomer.

Attention: This is not a labelling or a personality test or whatever. Read after to find out what it is about.

Here is a breakdown...

  • Victim: Someone who is still trying to cope with the disease and trying to come to terms with it. Feelings of regret and worry are still very present.
  • Survivor: More or less there with regard to coming to terms with the disease. Taking each day as it comes, and trying to make the most out of each day. Trying to stay optimistic, healthy and cheerful.
  • Overcomer: Come to terms with the disease and decides that it's not such a bad thing after all. There are experiences that have taught about love, trust and what is truly important in life. Looks forward to helping others, inspiring others who are not so "lucky" and deluded by the material world, the paper chase, the rat race, etc.

Where do you stand?

Personally I feel that everyone here is a survivor at least. To contribute to this list, to encourage one another, to be able to wake up, get out of bed, go for dialysis and stuff is no small feat and it's amazing that you guys are able to do that, some for so many years. Hats and pants off to you all. Okay, maybe not pants off but you get the drift. :)

Well if you are a survivor already, go ahead and turn yourself into an overcomer. There are people out there who are looking for meaning in life when sometimes, or most of the time, they have it already! The experiences that you have I'm sure have showed you how there is more to life than wealth or how far you climb up the corporate ladder. Good health, relationships are what is going to make their lives count.

You all have a story to tell, to inspire people and help them to build a little culture of love. Who knows, with many more little cultures of love, one day the world can finally become 1 BIG BIG BIG culture of love for everyone to share!
